Reconfiguring SSH port fails

Reported by: david Owned by: [email protected]
Priority: minor Milestone: roo-1.4
Component: Walleye Version: 1.4b3
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Attempting to reconfigure the port sshd listen on via Walleye fails and you are unable to reconnect on the specified port.

Steps to repeat:

1) Use walleye to chanage the sshd port from 22 to 2222 2) Check the box to restart sshd on reboot 3) Reconfigure (and recieve message saying sshd has been reconfigured) 4) Check port 2222 is now listed in reloaded walleye UI 5) Attempt to connect to port 2222 using ssh (fails) 6) Attempt to connect to port 22 using ssh (suceeds)

/var/log/secure shows sshd restarting on port 22 and netstat shows a listening service on port 22, not 2222.

Change History

Changed 10 years ago by rmcmillen

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to fixed

The proper honeywall variables are set, but the sshd configuration is not adjusted properly nor is the firewall reset to handle the new port.

Fixed by making sure the sshd configuration is changed prior to restarting the ssh daemon and reloading firewall so it reads the new ssh port variable (See ChangeSet? [47]).
